Service Design Strategies and Innovations is a two-year, full-time joint master’s focused on service design, management and leadership. It is delivered by a consortium coordinated by the Art Academy of Latvia with the University of Lapland, the Estonian Academy of Arts and the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga.
Students begin in Kuldīga and continue through mobility in Finland and Estonia, working across design, business, technology and social sciences. Graduates receive degrees from the University of Lapland, the Art Academy of Latvia and the Estonian Academy of Arts, plus a joint diploma supplement; the official site lists 2027/2028 admission as TBA.
Benefits & funding
- Twenty students per annual intake are offered Erasmus Mundus scholarships worth EUR 1,400 per month for the full 24-month programme and pay no tuition fees.
- The scholarship supports travel, visa, installation and living costs, while comprehensive health insurance is provided to all students.
- Ranked candidates not awarded a scholarship may take self-funded places at EUR 4,000 per year for EU, EEA or Swiss students and EUR 8,000 per year for other students.
Eligibility
- Applicants need a bachelor’s degree of at least 180 ECTS, or a second-level professional higher education diploma at LQF/EQF level 6–7, in the listed arts and humanities, social sciences, journalism and information, business, administration and law, or information and communication technology fields.
- Final-semester bachelor’s students may apply with interim records, subject to completing the degree and supplying final documents by the programme’s stated deadline.
- Applicants must submit accepted proof of English proficiency unless prior bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral study was taught entirely in English and documented accordingly.
- There is no nationality or residency restriction for programme admission; prior recipients of an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master scholarship cannot receive another EMJM scholarship.
- Professional experience is preferred but is not required.
