RIZA is an EU-funded project led by the European Network of Migrant Women. Over four years and three funding cycles it backs 99 small grassroots organisations in EU Member States that work with and for migrant, refugee and diaspora women.
Cycle 2 (Southern-Mediterranean focus) closed to new applicants on 31 July 2026. The Q&A plans Cycle 3, the last, for September 2027 with an Eastern-Central focus; organisations from every EU state may apply in each cycle.
Benefits & funding
- Lump sum, 100% funded, no co-financing: Micro €17,778, Small €32,778 or Medium €60,000.
- At most €60,000 per organisation across all cycles.
- Projects run 6 months to 1 year; 90% paid at signing, 10% after the project, report and training.
- Compulsory capacity-building (10 months per the funding page; 12 months per the Q&A), mostly online plus an in-person workshop in Brussels.
Eligibility
- Non-profit NGO or similar legal structure registered in an EU Member State; informal groups and organisations outside the EU (candidate countries included) cannot apply.
- Independent of political or religious parties and government; not bankrupt, in debt or under sanctions.
- At least one year of documented activity; operating budget under €300,000 in the last closed financial year.
- Women fill at least 80% of governing and executive roles (women’s organisations) or 50% (diaspora-led and human-rights organisations).
- Migrant-women-led, or a year’s track record with migrant, refugee or diaspora women.
- Organisations already granted €60,000 by RIZA are ineligible; migrant/refugee-women-led groups get priority.

Application process
- 1Stage 1: a short online form with a signed declaration, alone or with up to two partner organisations (partners cannot change later).
- 2Stage 2: shortlisted applicants submit a full proposal with proof of legal status, evidence of activities and the last financial report.
- 3English is encouraged; any EU language of the applicant’s country is accepted.
- 4Unsuccessful applicants may appeal within 7 days of the decision email.
