The University of Georgia School of Law in Athens, Georgia, runs a full-time, ten-month Master of Laws (LL.M.) for lawyers trained outside the United States, supported by its Dean Rusk International Law Center.
Every LL.M. applicant is reviewed for a limited number of merit-based awards, with no separate form. The awards reduce tuition rather than pay a published sum.
Benefits & funding
- Georgia Law International Scholar Awards and OGE International Student Waivers cut tuition to the Georgia resident rate: US$17,640 instead of US$43,296 out-of-country (2026–27 estimate).
- One Graduate Assistantship a year cuts tuition to US$25 and adds part-time research-assistant work.
- Fees (US$1,494) and living costs (room and board about US$17,986) are not stated as covered.
Eligibility
- A first law degree (LL.B. or equivalent) from an accredited university outside the United States, meeting the education needed to practise law in a non-U.S. jurisdiction.
- Final-year law students may apply if they graduate before enrolling.
- English: IELTS 7.0 (7.0 in reading and writing), or TOEFL 98 (25 reading, 24 writing) before 21 January 2026 / 5 overall (5 reading and writing) after; waivers possible for native speakers or English-taught law degrees.
- No nationality bar; August entry only.
