Joint Master Programme in Marine Biotechnology — Master's Scholarship

The Joint Master Programme in Marine Biotechnology is a 120-ECTS, full-time EU-CONEXUS degree taught in English. Students begin at Universidad Católica de Valencia in Spain, continue at La Rochelle Université in France, and then follow one of four specialist tracks across the consortium.

The curriculum combines marine biotechnology coursework, an internship, academic research integration, and a master’s thesis. The 2026 call is closed, and EU-CONEXUS has not confirmed whether applications will reopen for 2027.

Benefits & funding

Up to 15 places receive a 100% tuition fee waiver covering tuition, programme credit and laboratory fees, academic services, and health insurance.
The waiver does not cover accommodation, travel, meals, books, visas, migration procedures, or other living costs.
Self-funded tuition is €5,000 per year for citizens and permanent residents of the EU, North Macedonia, Serbia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Türkiye, and €9,000 per year for other applicants.
No Erasmus Mundus scholarships are available for the 2026 intake; eligible students may later seek Erasmus+ mobility grants, whose amounts vary and only partly cover expenses.

Eligibility

Applicants from all countries are eligible; there is no stated age, gender, or work-experience requirement.
Applicants need a recognised bachelor’s degree of at least 180 ECTS, including a bachelor thesis, that permits postgraduate study and provides relevant biological-sciences and biotechnology preparation.
Applicants whose native language or prior bachelor’s or master’s studies were not in English need at least CEFR B2 or IELTS 6.5, with at least 6.0 in each skill, or an accepted equivalent.
Students must be able to follow the programme’s mobility scheme and study for full semesters at at least two consortium universities outside their country of residence at enrolment.

Upload the bachelor diploma, transcript, English proof when required, statement of purpose, CV, two academic recommendation letters, and passport or EU identity document as applicable.
