ECT+ One Health is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, coordinated by the Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea in Spain and delivered by six European universities. The consortium sets classic toxicology, ecotoxicology and analytical chemistry inside the One Health framework, training scientists for environmental protection, risk assessment and policy work.

The degree runs 24 months and 120 ECTS: 90 ECTS of advanced courses plus a 30 ECTS thesis built on five to six months of supervised research. Mobility is compulsory, with students registered at a minimum of three universities — a foundation semester in Bordeaux, Liège or Pau, then a specialisation semester in Trondheim, Porto or the Basque Country.

UPV/EHU issues the joint diploma on behalf of the partners, and students who spend a semester in France also receive a parallel diploma from Bordeaux or Pau. The programme has been awarded European funding for five further student cohorts.

Benefits & funding

  • Erasmus Mundus scholarship covers participation costs, which include tuition, insurance, obligatory excursions, practical courses and fieldwork.
  • Monthly allowance of €1,400 for scholarship holders.
  • Travel contribution of €3,000 per year, paid in two halves: 50% in September of year one, 50% before September of year two.
  • Installation contribution of €500 per year.
  • Without a scholarship, the annual registration fee is €9,000 for Partner Country students and €4,500 for Programme Country students.
  • Consortium fee support, requested inside the online application: Smooth Fee 3C Grant of €5,400 for third-country students, Waiver Plus Grant of €2,000 and Waiver Minus Grant of €900 for EU students.
  • Consortium Mobility Grant of €2,800 per 14-week semester towards compulsory mobility.
  • Consortium Research Grant of €3,000, paid as a monthly allowance across the six-month thesis research period, for year-two students.
  • Admitted students with special needs can request specific grants for their study period.
  • Housing, and travel outside the mobility support, stay at the student’s own cost.

Eligibility

  • Open to applicants of any nationality; both Programme Country and Partner Country students can apply.
  • A bachelor’s degree of at least 180 ECTS; final-year students may apply, provided the degree is completed before the enrolment deadline.
  • Documented English proficiency, evidenced at the eligibility stage.
  • A valid passport, the bachelor transcript, a CV and the eligibility form are required before any application is considered.
  • Two academic or professional reference letters, a motivation letter and a proposed study plan for the full application.
  • Programme Country means the 27 EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway; everyone else counts as Partner Country, which sets the fee level.
  • For the Erasmus Mundus scholarship only, Partner Country applicants must not reside in a Programme Country and must not have spent more than 12 months there in the past five years.
  • No age limit and no work-experience requirement are published.

Application process

    Register at the online application portal when the call opens on 21 November.

    Step 1, by 31 January: upload passport, English proof, bachelor transcript, CV and eligibility form; the Joint Programme Board rules on eligibility by 15 February.

    Step 2A, by 15 March: eligible candidates applying for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship add a motivation letter, a study plan, proof of residence and referee invitations; decisions follow by 15 April.

    Step 2B and 2C, by 15 May: the portal reopens in spring for self-funded applicants, including those who scored above 7 at the eligibility stage but were not awarded a scholarship.

    Shortlisted applicants may be invited to an online interview.

    Step 3, by 30 May: self-funded students pay the registration fee and arrange visa and accommodation; all students present original documents before the programme starts in September.
