Benefits & funding

• The Erasmus Mundus scholarship covers all tuition fees for the whole programme.
• It pays a living allowance of €1,400 per month for 24 months, up to €33,600 in total.
• Scholars choose between three advance payments of €1,000 for visa and travel costs with monthly payments then set at €1,275, or the full €1,400 every month with no advance.
• Travel insurance for the duration of the programme is included.
• Up to 60 regular scholarships are available across the four intakes, roughly 15 a year, plus up to 30 targeted scholarships financed by the EU’s external action instruments.
• Optional non-credit summer schools at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver or at Mainz and Frankfurt are open to scholarship and self-funded students alike at no extra cost.
• Self-funded fees for 2026-27 entry are £8,640 a year (about €10,167) for UK, EU and programme countries and £19,570 a year (about €23,030) for all other countries, covering tuition only.
• Self-funded applicants pay a £2,000 deposit when they accept an offer.

Eligibility

• Applicants need a completed first higher education degree or its equivalent.
• Final-year students may also apply: a candidate who will only obtain that first degree at the end of the academic year before the intake can be selected, provided the degree is in hand before the master’s course begins.
• Applications are welcomed from every region of the world; there is no nationality or residency bar.
• Applicants from countries the UK Government lists as non-English-speaking need IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no subtest below 6.0, or an accepted equivalent: TOEFL 90 overall for tests taken before 21 January 2026 and 92 overall from that date, Pearson PTE 65, or Cambridge CAE/CPE 176.
• Preference is given to applicants who have not already completed a master’s degree.
• Anyone who has previously held an EMJM scholarship cannot apply for this scholarship.
• No more than 6 scholarships per nationality are awarded across the four editions, a 10% cap on the 60 regular scholarships; the cap does not apply to the targeted scholarships, which cover Regions 1, 3 and 5–11 of the Erasmus+ Programme Guide.
• Two references are required: one academic, the second academic or professional.

Application process

   Wait for the next round to open on the University of Glasgow application portal; the round for September 2026 entry opened on 1 October.

   Choose your route and download the matching form: the scholarship application form or the self-funded application form.

   Rank the three semester three options — Nantes, Tilburg and Wroclaw — in order of preference; a first choice is not guaranteed, and the option you end up on decides which universities award your degree.

   Assemble the documents: degree certificates and academic transcripts in the original language, official English translations of both, a current CV, a copy of the passport photo page, and an English language certificate where one is needed.

   Ask two referees for letters on headed paper, dated within 24 months of submission and signed by hand or digitally.

   Complete and submit the application within 42 days of starting it, and before the deadline: the 2026-entry scholarship round closed on 23 January at 13:00 UK time and the self-funded round on 21 August at 23:59 UK time.

   Scholarship applicants are notified in April; self-funded applicants who receive an offer pay the £2,000 deposit to hold the place.
