The Swiss Study Foundation awards these fellowships every year together with the Werner Siemens Foundation. They support students in mathematics, informatics, natural sciences, technology, human medicine, pharmacy and life sciences at Swiss universities.
Since 2016 the award has gone to MINT students with outstanding results who are also willing to carry MINT topics into wider society. Fellows join the Werner Siemens Programme, which runs summer academies and networking events on mobility, infrastructure and innovation.
Only students already admitted to the foundation’s support programme can receive it. There is no public call for the fellowship itself.
Benefits & funding
- A monthly contribution of CHF 1,650; the 2026/2027 announcement states CHF 19,800 per fellow.
- Ten renewable fellowships are awarded each year.
- Support runs for a maximum of eight semesters.
- Fellows can take part in the networking events of the Werner Siemens Programme.
Eligibility
- Open only to students already receiving support from the Swiss Study Foundation.
- Covered fields are mathematics, informatics, natural sciences, technology, human medicine, pharmacy and life sciences.
- Bachelor’s and master’s students both qualify; the 2026/2027 fellows study at ETH Zurich, EPFL Lausanne and the universities of Basel, Geneva, Zurich and Lucerne.
- Selection asks for outstanding academic performance together with visible engagement in communicating MINT subjects.
- The published pages set no nationality, residency, gender or work-experience requirement; the foundation’s own admission route applies an age limit of 28 at the point of entry.
