The Volvo Environment Prize, awarded since 1990, honours scientists whose work advances environmental stewardship and sustainability. It is given by an independent foundation whose secretariat sits at the Beijer Institute of Ecological Economics in Stockholm; the Volvo Group funds it but does not pick laureates.
Anyone may nominate a researcher. A Scientific Committee screens nominees and an international Prize Jury chooses the laureate.
