The Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology at Tsinghua University hosts this in-person summer school in Beijing on high-temperature gas-cooled reactor technology. The 2026 curriculum covered HTGR research and development, design, safety, operation, fuel, industrial heat applications, regulation, licensing, and the HTR-10 and HTR-PM systems.
Participants joined technical lectures, discussions, facility visits, and cultural activities. The 2026 session ran from 3 to 16 June and has concluded; no 2027 application date has been announced.
Benefits & funding
- Application and tuition fees were waived for the 2026 cycle.
- A selected number of participants could receive lump-sum support for accommodation and/or meals for up to 15 days, based on merit and financial need; accommodation support applied only at host-recommended hotels.
- INET covered local transport to technical facilities and cultural sightseeing sites.
- Participants remained responsible for travel to and from Beijing; those without financial support also had to arrange their own health and personal insurance.
Eligibility
- Undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as young professionals from any country, could apply.
- Applicants had to have completed at least one course in nuclear physics, nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, power engineering, or a related subject.
- The program was taught entirely in English, and applicants had to demonstrate strong English ability through relevant study or work, a recognized test, native-speaker status, or other supporting evidence.
- No minimum GPA was required, but full participation in discussions and collaborative activities was expected.
