The Mira Fellowship describes itself as a social venture incubator for professionals pursuing ambitious, systems-changing work. It was created in memory of Mira Yli Fox, the daughter of its founders, and is run by Coeylen Barry (Director of Curriculum), Kai Barry (Director of Story) and Sarah Dobrovolny (Director of Operations); donations run through its fiscal sponsor, Cambiar Education. Applications are accepted year-round and the window is open now. Fellows join a continuing community, the site publishes no program length or end date, and most programming happens online. Each year the team also convenes a cohort for an intensive sprint on their projects, with a 1 June cut-off for the 2027 Cohort. The organisation reports applications from more than 25 countries and a 4% acceptance rate.

Benefits & funding

  • One-on-one coaching from entrepreneurs who have worked through similar roadblocks.
  • Micro-grants during the fellowship, to get a project in shape before it meets the network of donors and investors. The site states these funds do not cover living expenses and are not a salary, and publishes no amounts.

  • In-person summits each year, usually two to three days, with lodging provided and dates set well ahead around fellows’ calendars.
  • A community of fellows for feedback and connections, plus a toolbox covering reframing, prototyping, community building and storytelling.
  • A place in the annual Cohort Sprint for fellows ready to accelerate. The site publishes no length or start date for it.
  • Reported outcomes: 60% of fellows have launched organisations and 75% have received follow-on funding.

Eligibility

  • Open worldwide. The FAQ states the fellowship welcomes applications from anywhere in the world.
  • Applicants must be 18 or older.
  • Mid-career, measured by experience rather than age: enough grounding to understand the problem deeply and to pursue it long term.
  • Tackling a complex, systemic problem with a bold solution; observant and flexible, with an openness to test assumptions; determined; collaborative; deeply knowledgeable in the field, with a proven track record.
  • The project should be challenging, transformative and aimed at lasting impact at scale.
  • Individual applications only. Cofounders should choose one person to apply or each apply separately.
  • Applying while in another fellowship is allowed, though running two at once is discouraged for time reasons.
  • Many fellows work full time, so schedule flexibility for coaching, meetings and summits is required.
  • No degree requirement is stated.
  • A USD 20 application fee applies. The team asks anyone for whom the fee is a hardship to contact them before applying.

Application process

    Read the Application Guidelines and the Sample Submission linked from the fellowship page.

    Record a video statement of two minutes or less telling a simple story about something that happened recently, such as a trip to the store or meeting a new friend. Phone footage is fine. Upload it to YouTube or a similar platform, set to public or unlisted, and keep the link.

    Prepare a résumé as a single PDF.

    Prepare one PDF answering five prompts, in writing or visually: Idea Description, Impact Goals & Timeline (500 words); Idea Impact Visual (250 words); Resource Analysis (500 words); Why You? (500 words); Why Now? (500 words).

    Register on Bloomerang and pay the USD 20 fee. Every applicant registers there, including anyone granted a waiver, and the receipt carries a transaction ID.

    Submit the online application form linked from the fellowship page, entering that transaction ID in the Proof of Payment section.

    The team reviews each application and gets in touch within two to three weeks to open a conversation about the work.
