Simon Fraser University’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences invites applications for its 2027–28 humanities fellowship. It supports creative practice and publicly engaged scholarship.

Up to five fellows a year join an FASS unit in Burnaby for teaching, research, creation and public outreach. Appointments span one to three four-month terms.

Benefits & funding

  • C$25,000 per four-month term, paid biweekly with no benefits; C$50,000 for eight months or C$75,000 for 12 months.
  • Appointments are normally non-renewable.
  • Fellows must deliver at least one public lecture, performance or other outreach activity and be available for occasional consultations.

Eligibility

  • Emerging or established engaged academic scholars, artists, knowledge keepers, practitioners or writers in the humanities and arts may apply.
  • Professional applicants need a strong public-engagement record; tenured or tenure-track scholars must be able to take leave.
  • People holding continuing SFU appointments and SFU students are ineligible; proposed work normally cannot fulfill an enrolled degree’s requirements.
