The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute hosts this one-year residential research fellowship in Florence. Up to 20 scholars join the Centre each year.
Fellows pursue a project aligned with an RSCAS research theme, programme or project, participate in its academic life, and work toward a publication.
Benefits & funding
- The basic grant is €2,850 monthly; other grants or salaries may reduce it to a minimum of €2,100.
- Eligible fellows may receive partner and dependent-child allowances.
- The award includes €650 for research, up to €1,200 for return travel, and up to €250 for eligible visa costs.
- Fellows must live near Florence, maintain medical insurance at their own expense, and work toward a publication.
Eligibility
- The PhD must have been awarded before 1 September 2022.
- Applicants of all nationalities are eligible.
- The programme is for postdocs, tenure-track academics and scholars taking a sabbatical; good English and any other language needed for the research are expected.
- Candidates cannot apply for both Jean Monnet and Max Weber Fellowships.
