TELME is a two-year Erasmus Mundus Joint Master worth 120 ECTS, built around teaching foreign languages in multicultural and inclusive classrooms. Five European universities deliver it together: Université Rennes 2 in France as coordinator, Åbo Akademi in Finland, the University of Limerick in Ireland, the Universidad de Burgos in Spain and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland.
Study takes place in at least two different countries and ends in a double degree. Courses run in six language-pair tracks drawn from English, French, Spanish and German, so applicants choose a pairing and a mobility path when they apply.
The European Union funds circa 12 full scholarships per cohort. The first cohort, 2026–2028, enrolled 23 students of 19 nationalities, 14 of them on EU scholarships.
Benefits & funding
- EMJM scholarship: tuition covered in full plus €1,400 per month for up to 24 months.
- Health and civil liability insurance is included in the tuition for every student, including programme-related travel.
- Circa 12 EU scholarships are awarded per cohort; cohort 1 received 14.
- Self-funded place: €6,500 per year in tuition, insurance included.
- Additional partner-university funding: a faculty grant at Åbo Akademi (non-EU/EEA, one per year), Eiffel Excellence at Rennes 2 (year two only), the Government of Ireland Scholarship at Limerick (non-EU/EEA), NAWA Stefan Banach at Adam Mickiewicz (developing countries) and Fundación Carolina at Burgos (Latin America and Portugal).
- Erasmus+ mobility grants may be available in year two, subject to bilateral agreements and quotas.
- An EMJM scholarship cannot go to anyone who has already held one or who holds another EU-funded scholarship.
Eligibility
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent of 180 ECTS in translation, language teaching, linguistics, or education with a language specialisation.
- Final-year bachelor students may be admitted conditionally.
- Candidates without a qualifying degree may apply on relevant professional experience in language teaching or a related area.
- Level B2 in two TELME languages, and B1 in English if English is not one of the two.
- Language certificates must have been issued less than three years before the application is submitted.
- Open to applicants worldwide; proof of residence is not required at the time of application.
- All documents are submitted in English, with certified English translations of official documents.

- 2Choose a language-pair track and the mobility path that matches it.
- 3Assemble the file: passport, bachelor’s diploma and official transcript, language certificates, a cover letter of up to 1,000 words, a motivation video of up to 2 minutes, a CV, two recommendation letters, and academic publications if you have any.
- 4Submit online in English between 3 October 2026 and 3 January 2027.
- 5Conditional results reach all applicants at the end of March 2027.
- 6Attend one of the early-April webinars; scholarship candidates are interviewed at that stage, self-funded candidates may book an individual appointment about their mobility path.
- 7Confirm your place by the end of April 2027.
