Spirit Day is GLAAD’s annual anti-bullying campaign supporting LGBTQ youth, especially transgender and nonbinary young people. Individuals, schools, workplaces, media organizations, brands and community groups can join from anywhere by taking the pledge and going purple.

The 2026 campaign day is October 15. Participation combines visible local action, such as wearing purple, with online advocacy using #SpiritDay.

Benefits & funding

  • Participation is free; there is no grant, stipend, salary or prize.
  • Participants can use GLAAD’s campaign guidance and social-media materials to organize and share their support.

Eligibility

  • Open to individuals and organizations worldwide.
  • GLAAD states no nationality, residency, age, education or work-experience requirement.
  • There is no competitive selection process; participation is through the public pledge.
