The Mayor’s Office Internship Program places enrolled college juniors, seniors, and graduate students in the Office of the Mayor of Nashville and Davidson County. Interns work with city officials on local government operations, policy development, civic engagement, communications, administration, and other focus-area projects.
The current Spring 2027 cohort runs in Nashville from January 25 to April 16. A Summer 2027 cohort is scheduled for May 10 to July 30, with its application process expected to begin in late 2026.
Benefits & funding
- Paid position at $20 per hour.
- Workload of 10–20 hours per week for about 12 weeks.
- Practical experience with city officials plus workshops, training sessions, and networking events when available.
Eligibility
- Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate college junior or senior, or as a graduate or postgraduate student.
- Study Public Administration, Economics, Communications, Environmental Studies, Urban Planning, Youth Development, Political Science, or a related field.
- Have strong written and verbal communication, collaborative ability, Microsoft Office proficiency, attention to detail, confidentiality, organizational skills, and an interest in public service.
