UST’s International Admission for 2027 Spring Semester recruits international students for master’s, integrated (master’s-to-PhD) and doctoral study in South Korea. UST runs its degrees through 30 government-funded research institutes, which serve as its Schools.

Students take courses and do research at the institute they apply to, full-time from Monday to Friday. Not every School or major recruits each semester; the guide lists those open this intake.

Benefits & funding

  • Every student receives a monthly research stipend as a scholarship, with no separate application: at least KRW 1,430,000 (master’s) or KRW 1,900,000 (doctoral) before deductions, through February 29, 2028.
  • Tuition is KRW 2,500,000 per semester; the stipend is designed to cover it.
  • Airfare and settlement costs are generally not provided.
  • Minimum study period: two years (master’s, doctoral), four years (integrated).

Eligibility

  • The standard route requires the applicant and both parents to hold non-Korean citizenship.
  • The overseas-Korean route admits children of Korean nationals living abroad who completed all schooling through university outside Korea; it sets no citizenship rule for the applicant.
  • Five further tracks (IAEA-RCA, KITECH Global Scholarship, KIMM STARSHIP, Specialized Master LPEM, KOICA-KICT) add nomination, partner-university or nationality rules to the standard route.
  • Master’s and integrated applicants need a bachelor’s degree, PhD applicants a master’s, held or expected by February 2027.
  • A TOEFL, TEPS, IELTS or TOPIK score meeting the School’s minimum (IELTS 6.0; 6.5 at KIER); degrees from seven named English-speaking countries exempt.

Application process

    Choose one track, degree and major in the UST Admission System; applying to more than one track voids every application.

    Submit the form, a study plan answering three set questions, degree documents and transcripts by October 6, 2026, 15:00 KST, with a non-refundable USD 25 or KRW 35,000 fee.

    Have one or two recommenders submit UST’s letter form online before the deadline.

    Shortlisted applicants sit an in-depth interview; missing it disqualifies.
