HySET is a two-year, 120-ECTS Erasmus Mundus joint master covering the hydrogen value chain, coordinated by Politecnico di Torino with Politecnico di Milano, NTNU, UPC and TU/e.

Year one is in Turin or Milan, the third semester at UPC, NTNU or TU/e, and the fourth is a dissertation, preferably as an internship with an industrial partner. The 2027–29 intake is the fifth edition, and its EU funding has not yet been awarded.

Benefits & funding

  • If EU funding is awarded: a tuition waiver with health insurance, plus 1,400 EUR a month for 24 months, paid at month end and also meant to cover travel and visa costs. The consortium cannot yet guarantee scholarships for this cohort.
  • Self-funded places stay open whatever the funding outcome: 4,500 EUR a year for European students, 9,000 EUR for non-European students, living costs excluded.
  • Two master’s degrees plus the HySET diploma parchment.

Eligibility

  • Open to applicants worldwide; no more than 10% of regular scholarships go to one nationality.
  • A bachelor’s of at least 180 credits in mechanical, energy, chemical, electrical, aeronautical or industrial engineering, physics or chemistry; physics, chemistry, aeronautical and electrical graduates must prove thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics. Final-year students can apply.
  • GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • TOEFL iBT 90 (21 per section), IELTS 6.5 (6.0 per section) or CAE 160; Duolingo is not accepted. Nationals of listed English-speaking countries taught and examined in English are exempt.
  • Past Erasmus Mundus joint master scholarship holders cannot receive another.

Application process

    Register on Politecnico di Torino’s apply portal and complete the HySET form by 15 November 2026, 23:59 CET; everyone is considered for a scholarship and can also flag interest in a self-funded place.

    Upload two reference letters and a 2–3 minute self-introduction video; non-English documents need a notarised translation.

    Shortlisted and reserve-list candidates may get an online interview; missing it ends the application.
  4. 4
    Results arrive by email in late January or early February; the admission page allows 7 days to accept, the FAQ 10.
