GREENANO — Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Nanomaterials for Green and Digital Transitions

Benefits & funding

• Full EMJM grant: a monthly allowance of €1,400 for living and travel costs, for up to 24 months, the standard length of the programme.
• The full grant also brings complete exemption from tuition and registration fees at the partner universities and health insurance for the whole programme.
• Partial EMJM grant, for applicants of outstanding merit who miss a full grant: fees waived and health insurance covered, but no monthly allowance — living costs are the student’s own.
• Grants cover full participation in all teaching activities, including lab courses, excursions, and the winter and summer schools.
• Participation costs are described as institutional fees, health insurance and full participation in teaching; the programme does not publish the amount.
• 120 ECTS and three master degrees, one from each degree-awarding partner.
• The consortium is approved by the EACEA to award full grants each year to the highest-ranked applicants worldwide; the number awarded is not published.
• Grant holders cannot draw on other EU funding at the same time.

Eligibility

• A bachelor degree of at least three years or 180 ECTS in physics, materials science, chemistry, engineering, nanoscience or a related field, from an accredited institution.
• Final-year bachelor students may apply with transcripts for all semesters but the last plus a certificate of current enrolment; the final certificate is due by 1 July.
• English at B2 to C2, shown by IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 90, TOEIC 850, PTE Academic 60, Cambridge CAE or CPE, with results no more than two years old.
• Applicants from countries where English is a de jure official language, or whose bachelor was taught in English, may submit proof of that instead of a test certificate.
• Open to applicants from anywhere in the world; no nationality or residency requirement.
• PhD holders may apply.
• Anyone who has already held an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master grant cannot receive a second one.
• The cohort is capped at 25 students.

Application process

   Wait for the call: applications run from 1 November to 15 January, and the next round opens in November 2026.

   Register on the GREENANO application platform at greenano-app.univ-lorraine.fr.

   Upload the fourteen required items, among them personal details, a valid passport, a recent photo, an English CV, a certified high-school diploma with transcript, a certified bachelor degree with transcript, the English certificate, two recommendation letters, and an introduction video of one to two minutes.

   Calculate your CGPA with the conversion tool built into the online application.

   Add the optional material if you have it: a motivation letter of at most 600 words, academic and professional accomplishments, and evidence of entrepreneurial achievement.

   Provide certified English translations, sealed or stamped by an authorised service, for every document not issued in English.

   The admission committee scores each file out of 100; 75 points is the pass mark.

   Shortlisted applicants are invited to an online interview.

   Decisions arrive as a main list, a reserve list, a partial grant or a rejection, and selected applicants confirm their place.

    Those selected then supply proof of residence issued within the last 12 months and a passport valid by June at the latest.

    Formal aspects of the selection can be challenged within 10 working days, with an answer due within 15 working days.
