RePIC is a two-year joint master’s degree run by UNIC, an alliance of universities in European cities that grew up around heavy industry. Eight universities award the degree together: Ruhr University Bochum, University College Cork, University of Deusto, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Koç University, University of Liège, University of Oulu and University of Zagreb.
Everyone starts with a core semester in Bochum, then moves to one of four specialisation tracks at a partner university, spends the third semester in Ireland or Belgium, and writes the dissertation at a partner institution in the fourth.
The degree is taught entirely in English and carries 120 ECTS. Its subject is how cities rebuild their economies, communities and space after industry leaves. Erasmus Mundus funds a set of scholarships that are awarded to the strongest applicants worldwide through the same application.
Benefits & funding
- Erasmus Mundus Joint Master scholarship: EUR 1,400 per month towards travel, visa, installation and living costs, for a maximum of 24 months.
- Full tuition waiver for scholarship holders: EUR 2,250 per semester for EU/EFTA citizens or EUR 4,500 per semester for other citizens, up to four semesters.
- Health insurance in line with the Erasmus Mundus requirements.
- A joint M.Sc. degree awarded by all eight partner universities, with diplomas issued in each national qualification framework.
- Students without a scholarship pay EUR 9,000 (EU/EFTA) or EUR 18,000 (other citizens) for the full two years.
Eligibility
- A completed Bachelor’s degree (university first cycle, EQF level 6), preferably including a dissertation, or an equivalent qualification.
- A background in architecture, urban planning, geography, engineering, sociology, public administration, business studies or a related discipline.
- English at CEFR B2 or above, with official proof where applicable.
- Open to applicants of any nationality; scholarships are awarded worldwide, with no more than 10% of them going to applicants from any one country.
- Anyone who has already held an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master scholarship cannot receive a second one.

- 1Register in the RePIC online application system, which Ruhr University Bochum runs for the whole consortium.
- 2Upload a copy of your passport, a certified copy of the diploma, certified academic transcripts, a CV in English, proof of language ability where applicable, and a structured motivation letter.
- 3Submit inside the application window — the same file decides both admission and the scholarship, and there is no separate scholarship form.
- 4Wait for the admission decision, which sets out enrolment dates and payment terms.
