ASC is an Erasmus Mundus joint master’s in advanced spectroscopy in chemistry, run since 2006 by the universities of Lille, Leipzig, Helsinki, Krakow (Jagiellonian) and Bologna. All teaching is in English.
Students start in Lille, study in at least two countries and earn a multiple master’s degree (120 ECTS). The EU-funded project is ending: Erasmus Mundus scholarships are gone and applications are paused until new conditions are posted.
Benefits & funding
- No Erasmus Mundus scholarships; calls admit self-funded students only.
- Tuition for upcoming intakes is still being set by the partner universities.
- Self-funded students coming to Lille can seek an I-SITE ULNE study grant of €3,500 a year; Erasmus+ grants may cover mobility periods.
- Fee waivers are possible for academic excellence and social need.
Eligibility
- A bachelor’s in chemistry, biochemistry, physical chemistry or chemical physics (application page; the FAQ also names physics); final-year students may apply if they graduate before enrolment.
- English at B2, e.g. IELTS 6.5 with no section below 5.5, or paper TOEFL 570 (application page; the FAQ says 580); a letter that your degree was taught in English also counts.
- All nationalities, via separate calls for Programme-country (EU) and Partner-country (non-EU) applicants; non-EU files sent to the EU call are disregarded.
- Partner-country students with over 12 months’ main activity in a Programme country in the last five years count as Programme-country applicants.
