Benefits & funding

• EMJM scholarship: the European Union covers the participation costs in full and pays 1,400 € per month across the 24 months of the programme.
• Partial scholarship: a reduction of the participation costs, with the amount set by the holder’s citizenship and specialisation track.
• Participation costs cover the institutional tuition fees, health and accident insurance, and every teaching activity — lab courses, excursions, visits, one summer session per year and the one-week immersive session at the University of Liège in Belgium.
• Travel, housing and living expenses fall outside the participation costs; the fees page publishes minimum monthly living costs per country, updated in March 2026.
• Scholarships target eleven Erasmus+ regions, among them the Western Balkans, Neighbourhood South, Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East, the Pacific, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Eligibility

• Open to applicants of every nationality; the programme states it is open to all applicants around the world.
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic qualification from an internationally recognised university, with a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0.
• Accepted backgrounds include a BSc or BEng in mechanical, aeronautical, chemical, electrical or energy engineering, with coursework in thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
• Documented written and spoken English: TOEFL iBT 92 with writing of at least 22, IELTS Academic 6.5 with writing of at least 5.5, or Cambridge CAE/CPE at grade C.
• The English certificate is waived for graduates of EU/EEA institutions who completed at least 60 ECTS taught in English, and for bachelor’s degrees from the countries listed on the application page.
• No age limit and no work-experience requirement; an EMJM scholarship cannot be awarded to someone who has already received one, though that applicant may still enter self-funded or with reduced participation costs.

Application process

   Prepare the file: Europass CV, a one-page motivation letter in 11pt, a 3 to 5 minute self-introduction video, notarised degree copies and transcripts, passport or ID card, English certificate, passport photo, and proof of employment where relevant.

   Ask two referees to upload their letters directly into the application system.

   Submit through the consortium’s online application portal inside the campaign window; the 2026-2028 round ran from 6 October 2025 to 26 January 2026.

   Two reviewers score the file out of 100 points during the evaluation period.

   Receive one of four outcomes: admission with an EMJM scholarship, admission with reduced participation costs, self-funded admission, or rejection.
