EDU_MIG Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Education, Migration, and Diversity

Benefits & funding

• Erasmus Mundus scholarship: €1,400 a month for 24 months, no tuition fees, health insurance covered.
• About 10 scholarships go to non-EU citizens and about 7 to EU citizens each year.
• Self-funded European students pay €167 per term in student fees, with health insurance covered and Erasmus mobility funding possible.
• Self-funded non-European students pay €1,500 per term in tuition plus the €167 per term student fee.
• 8 to 10 self-funded study places are available each year alongside the scholarship places.
• Students are enrolled at the University of Education Schwäbisch Gmünd for 24 months and hold exchange status at the partner universities.
• Support with visa documents and with finding housing at each EDU_MIG location.
• Third-term internships with schools, NGOs, public bodies and research groups in Benin, Germany, Italy, Sweden or Türkiye.

Eligibility

• A recognised 3- or 4-year bachelor’s degree, or a master’s degree, from a higher education institution.
• The degree should be in a related field: social sciences, history, cultural studies, educational sciences or applied linguistics.
• Final grade of the first degree at least C+ or the local equivalent.
• The last degree should have been obtained within the past 5 years; an older degree has to be explained in the motivation letter.
• English at CEFR level C1: UNIcert Level III, Cambridge English Scale 180, IELTS Academic 7.0, TOEFL iBT 95, or Pearson Academic (Global Scale of English) 76.
• The language exam must have been taken no more than two years before the application.
• Work, internship or volunteer experience in education, migration or diversity is preferred, not required.
• Open to all nationalities; the consortium states it can accept at most two candidates from any one country.
• Anyone who has already held an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master scholarship cannot apply for another one.

Application process

   Wait for the online portal at master.edumig.tchooz.app to open — 15 December 2026 for the scholarship round, 1 April 2027 for the self-funded round.

   Assemble the file: CV, motivation letter of at most 2 pages, degree certificate or transcript with a certified English translation, high school diploma and transcripts, passport copy, language certificate, employment or internship certificates, and two academic or professional references.

   Submit online before the deadline of the round you are applying to.

   Applicants with high grades are invited to an online interview with the steering committee drawn from the three partner universities.

   Decisions are sent by 15 April for the scholarship round and by 1 July for the self-funded round; scholarship applicants who miss out can be reconsidered as self-funded candidates.

   A procedural appeal goes in writing to the programme office within one month of the result; it cannot challenge the decision itself, only errors in how the file was assessed.
