Crown Prince Frederik Fund — Master's Scholarship

The Crown Prince Frederik Fund supports Danish citizens studying public policy or public administration at Harvard Kennedy School or an equivalent program at another Ivy League university. Fulbright Denmark manages marketing, candidate selection and administration for the fund.

Recipients enter a two-year MPP or MPA route, or a one-year Mid-Career MPA route. The scholarship becomes final only after the recipient secures admission to Harvard Kennedy School or, if Harvard does not admit them, an approved alternative Ivy League program.

Benefits & funding

The scholarship covers tuition expenses.
The fund offers one or two scholarships for a two-year MPP or MPA program.
It also offers one scholarship for the one-year Mid-Career MPA route, which runs from September to May.

Eligibility

Applicants must be Danish citizens with a strong affiliation to Denmark.
Applicants cannot hold dual Danish-American citizenship or a United States Green Card.
Applicants need the academic preparation required for master’s study and must be capable of gaining admission to Harvard Kennedy School or an equivalent Ivy League program.
Documented quantitative proficiency through undergraduate economics, statistics or calculus is required; MPP applicants need at least 70% on the quantitative section of the GRE or GMAT.
The committee weighs relevant public administration or public service experience, nonprofit or policy-related extracurricular work, excellent grades and strong recommendations, and counts two to three years of professional work as an advantage.
The binding work-experience minimums come from the Harvard programs themselves: the MPP requires none, the two-year MPA requires three years of professional work experience by September 1 of the enrolment year, and the one-year Mid-Career MPA requires at least seven years by June 30 of that year.

Application process

Complete the CPFF form in English and email it with all required attachments as one ordered PDF to Fulbright Denmark.

If the Danish selection committee advances the application, attend an in-person interview in early November.

If nominated, apply separately to Harvard Kennedy School and the alternative universities by their deadlines.

Receive the scholarship only after admission is confirmed by Harvard or an approved alternative.
