DSSGx Munich 2026 is a full-time fellowship hosted by LMU Munich and the Munich Center for Machine Learning. Fellows work on site in Munich in an interdisciplinary team, applying data science to a project for social good.
The 2026 project focuses on data-driven support for personalized depression care in German primary care. The program runs from 3 August to 2 October 2026, and applications for this cycle are closed.
Benefits & funding
- Fellows receive a €1,500 monthly stipend, paid at the end of each of the two months.
- Technical mentors, project managers, subject experts, and an educational lecture series support the project work.
- Housing, accommodation, and travel costs are not provided.
Eligibility
- The program is aimed at students and recent graduates from Bachelor’s level through PhD level, including Bachelor’s students nearing the end of their studies.
- Applicants may come from abroad and from data science, computer science, statistics, social science, natural science, or other backgrounds.
- Applicants need some experience working with data or writing code, good English, readiness for interdisciplinary teamwork, and strong motivation to work on social good.
- Fellows must attend full time and in person in Munich for the entire period; vacations during the program are not permitted.
- Applicants need a visa or citizenship that permits them to remain in Germany for the full program; organizers can provide confirmation or invitation letters but cannot help secure a visa.
