The ASPPH/CDC Public Health Fellowship Program is an annual, full-time placement jointly run by ASPPH and CDC. It gives recent public health master’s and doctoral graduates mentored applied experience on CDC projects.

The 2026 cohort has 18 placements, mostly based in Atlanta, with certain roles offering remote or hybrid arrangements. The current application cycle is closed.

Benefits & funding

  • The 2026 training stipend is US$64,625 for master’s-level candidates or US$78,189 for candidates with a terminal graduate degree.
  • Each fellow has access to a US$7,500 health insurance allowance for premiums during the one-year term.
  • Some host offices may provide an additional travel and training allowance.
  • Fellows receive mentorship, hands-on public health experience, professional development, and access to CDC research, data systems, tools, and subject-matter experts.
  • Relocation costs are not reimbursed.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. lawful permanent residents holding a Green Card.
  • Applicants must receive an eligible master’s or doctoral degree no earlier than May 2021 and no later than August 2026.
  • The graduate degree must come from a CEPH-accredited public health school or program that is an ASPPH member.
  • Each applicant may apply for up to three fellowship placements.

    Prepare a resume, two essays, two recommendation letters on official letterhead, graduation-date verification, and an official or unofficial transcript.
