Official Page

The American Academy of Nursing Fellowship is an honorific membership for nurse leaders whose individual work has made significant, substantive, and sustained contributions to health or health care. The Academy selects applicants through a nomination and review process covering impact in areas such as practice, education, policy, research, administration, and advocacy.

Selected applicants become Fellows only after participating in the in-person induction ceremony at the Academy’s annual Health Policy Conference in Washington, DC. They may then use the FAAN credential and join a fellowship of more than 3,400 nursing leaders.

Benefits & funding

  • The fellowship is an honorific professional membership and does not advertise a stipend or monetary award.
  • Applicants pay a nonrefundable US$375 application fee.
  • Selected applicants must also pay a one-time initiation fee and US$975 for 2026 conference registration as New Fellow Inductees; the current initiation-fee amount is not stated on the accessible program pages.
  • After induction, Fellows may use the FAAN credential and participate in the Academy’s professional community.
