The Ernest Solvay Fund, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation (KBF), backs initiatives in Belgium and other countries where Solvay operates. Projects must fit one of three areas: STEM education, planet progress or better life.
The 2026 call ran from 15 April to 30 September 2026 and is closed; the Fund’s management committee picks projects in the autumn. Calls ran in both 2025 and 2026, so a 2027 call is likely.
Benefits & funding
- Up to €10,000 per project.
- STEM education means mainly chemistry, physics and earth sciences, plus digital education; planet progress covers issues such as biodiversity, energy transition and water purification; better life covers the physical, psychological and financial security of Solvay’s communities.
Eligibility
- Any organisation running a non-commercial project in one of the three areas.
- The project must be carried out within 100 km of a Solvay industrial site; administrative and commercial Solvay sites do not count.
- No nationality or residence rule for the applicant is stated; the project’s location is the gate.
