1834 Global is a nine-week fellowship run by the 1834 Foundation with the University of Toronto’s Centre for Diaspora and Transnational Studies. It develops emerging leaders in global civic and international affairs.
Fellows join virtual mixers, complete team policy research with international organizations and coaches, then present at an in-person summit.

Eligibility
- Be aged 20–30.
- Identify as Black or of African descent.
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Be interested in international development, diplomacy or Canadian foreign policy.
- Commit to nine virtual weeks at about 3.5 hours per week.
- Be willing and able to travel for the final in-person summit.

Application process
- 1Write a personal statement of no more than 400 words explaining how you would contribute and benefit.
- 2Prepare a current résumé.
- 3Arrange two references: one academic and one employer or community leader; both letters must arrive by the deadline.
