The WU Excellence Scholarship is Wageningen University & Research’s own award for strong international master’s students, run by its WU Scholarship Selection Committee.
It waives tuition for a two-year on-campus MSc in Wageningen starting September 2027. There is no separate form: complete MSc applications submitted before 1 December 2026 are screened, a shortlist is drawn, and recipients are then chosen by lottery.
Benefits & funding
- Tuition fee waiver for the whole programme (24 months).
- Living costs are not covered: recipients get a revised first-year invoice for living allowance, health and liability insurance and the residence permit fee, about €16,500 on current fees, payable before 1 July 2027.
Eligibility
- Citizen of at least one of: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Guatemala, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom or United States.
- Not eligible if you also hold an EU or EFTA nationality.
- GPA of 80% or higher and a First Class Honours bachelor’s or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s completed, and English language requirements met, before 1 December 2026.
- Unconditional admission to an eligible on-campus MSc starting September 2027.
- Prospective students only; current Wageningen University students cannot apply.
Application process
- 1Apply for an eligible on-campus MSc in Studielink, then submit a complete application (including official English test results and bachelor’s diploma) in WUR’s portal before 1 December 2026.

- 3Around March–April 2027, shortlisted applicants are emailed; a lottery at this final stage picks the recipients.
- 4Offers go out on 7 April 2027; remaining candidates join a waiting list.
