The Master’s in Intellectual Property and Development Policy (MIPD) is jointly organized by the KDI School of Public Policy and Management, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO). Billed as the world’s first master’s focused on intellectual property and development, it trains future IP policymakers and public- and private-sector leaders. Students study how patents, copyrights, trademarks, designs, and other IP rights shape a country’s social, economic, and environmental development. The program is taught in English at KDI School’s campus in Sejong, South Korea, and admits full-time students for a Spring intake.

Eligibility

  • Open to international (overseas) applicants who meet KDI School’s qualifications.
  • A completed bachelor’s degree is required for the master’s program.
  • No nationality is barred; the program targets professionals and graduates working on IP, innovation, startup ecosystems, and development policy — including legal practitioners, government officials, and staff of international organizations.
  • English-proficiency evidence is required; applicants with a bachelor’s or higher from an approved English-speaking country may be exempt (test results must be within two years of the deadline).
