Williams Papworth Studentship

Benefits & funding

• The award may provide full or partial support.
• Its value depends on the recipient’s personal resources and funding from other sources; the Trust does not publish a fixed amount.
• Support is normally for a one-year postgraduate course.

Eligibility

• Applicants should be from the Tibetan Plateau or surrounding regions or countries; the partner description also covers applicants with an interest and commitment to study and development in the Himalayan region.
• The studentship normally supports Master’s-level postgraduate study. PhD applicants are considered only in exceptional circumstances.
• Applicants who have spent extended periods studying at universities in Western Europe, the United States, Canada or Australia are considered only exceptionally.
• The Trust normally expects significant academic achievement and financial need.
• All academic disciplines may be considered, although Social Anthropology does not normally receive preference.
• An ethnic or cultural connection with the Himalayan region may be preferred, but it is not stated as a mandatory requirement.

Application process

   Choose an eligible postgraduate course at the University of Cambridge and check its course-specific funding deadline.

   Submit the Cambridge admissions application by that funding deadline and indicate that funding consideration is requested.

   Answer the Williams Papworth-specific questions in the admissions application; no separate studentship application is required.
4. 4
   Obtain a conditional admission offer to remain eligible for Cambridge Trust funding consideration.

Program timeline

   Submit the complete admissions application and request funding consideration.

2. Cambridge Trust awards are made on an ongoing basis.

3. Applicants who have not received an award should assume they were unsuccessful.
