The Tien Quach and Tran Trieu Memorial Scholarship is one of the named donor funds in the University of the West’s Golden Benefactor Awards, set up by Ms. Bessie Nhan in memory of her aunt and mother.
It gives one US$500 award each fall and each spring semester to an undergraduate or graduate student at the Rosemead, California campus, judged on financial need and academic performance.
Benefits & funding
- One US$500 award per semester, used in the semester it is awarded; award numbers depend on donor funds.
- Only one Golden Benefactor award per student per semester.
- Cannot be combined with the IBEF, President’s or Lotus scholarships, unless the committee grants a petition for exceptional need.
- Recipients write a semester report on their academic progress, sent to the donor.
Eligibility
- Full-time UWest undergraduate or graduate students, in any degree program.
- At least one semester already completed in a UWest degree-seeking program.
- Full-time: at least 12 units (undergraduate) or 9 units (graduate); a final-semester student who cannot be full-time must submit a written petition.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Priority goes to students showing extreme financial hardship.
