Western Balkans–Visegrad Fellowships is a jointly funded mobility program of the International Visegrad Fund and the Western Balkans Fund. It supports reciprocal, in-person academic visits: citizens of V4 countries work at relevant hosts in WB6 countries, while WB6 citizens visit V4 institutions.

During a 2–10-week stay, fellows conduct or join research, teach at higher-education level, or work with materials in archives or libraries. The 2026 call is closed, with activities scheduled from September 2026 through June 2027.

Benefits & funding

  • A lump-sum scholarship of €500 per week, paid in two instalments: about 80% after confirmed arrival and the balance after submission of a summary report.
  • An optional travel grant based on estimated costs, capped at €500; it is not awarded automatically.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be citizens of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czechia, Hungary, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Serbia, or Slovakia.
