Official Page

The University of Warwick Doctoral College runs this scholarship for postgraduate researchers beginning an eligible course at Warwick. It supports PhD, MPhil/PhD and EngD routes, as well as entry to the PhD stage of an MRes+PhD.

Applicants may propose a project in any discipline; the interdisciplinary route requires co-supervision across departments and alignment with a Warwick Research Spotlight or Research Centre. The 2026-entry round is closed, and the call for 2027 entry is due to open in October 2026.

Benefits & funding

  • Full payment of academic fees.
  • A maintenance stipend at the prevailing UKRI rate for 3.5 years; Warwick lists £21,805 for full-time study in 2026–27.
  • A one-off £5,000 Research, Training and Supporting Grant for research-related expenses.
  • Full-time study or 60% part-time study, subject to visa status, plus up to 40 days of annual leave on a pro-rata basis.
  • Eligible scholars may seek support with UK immigration costs and have access to paid short-term, family and medical leave.

Eligibility

  • Apply for an eligible Warwick postgraduate research course starting in October 2026: PhD, MPhil/PhD, EngD or entry to the PhD stage of an MRes+PhD.
  • Be a new starter for the relevant academic year; current postgraduate research students are not eligible for this Chancellor’s route.
  • Applicants from any discipline, nationality and fee status may apply.
  • Course admission requirements vary; Warwick states that research courses generally require at least a UK upper-second-class bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification.
  • Interdisciplinary applicants must propose cross-departmental co-supervision and align the project with a listed Research Spotlight or Research Centre.
