Wanted the best

Sapienza University of Rome

Application Deadline

October 30, 2026

Official Page

Wanted the best is Sapienza University of Rome’s yearly award for students who took their first-level degree at another Italian university and now move to Rome for a master’s. It is decided on qualifications alone: no essay, no interview, no test.

The 2026-27 call, signed on 2 July 2026, puts up 150 scholarships of €3,000 each. They go to graduates who scored between 105/110 and 110/110 cum laude and enrol for the first time in a two-year Sapienza master’s programme.

Sapienza’s English summary page still carries the previous cycle’s wording. The Italian call decree is the binding text for 2026-27.

Benefits & funding

  • 150 scholarships of €3,000 gross each, paid in a single instalment in or by March 2027, before the legally required IRPEF and IRAP deductions.
  • Exemption from Sapienza tuition fees; winners still pay a €30 single contribution, €16 stamp duty and the Lazio regional tax.
  • Payment depends on actually enrolling in a two-year Sapienza master’s programme for 2026-27, within that programme’s own enrolment deadline.
  • The award cannot be held together with a Lazio DiSCo regional scholarship, and it cannot be given up once accepted and paid.

Eligibility

  • A first-level (bachelor) degree from an Italian university other than Sapienza, graded 105/110 to 110/110 cum laude, obtained by 30 October 2026.
  • The degree completed within 42 months — three years plus one semester — counted from first university enrolment, including earlier careers closed without a formal withdrawal.
  • Age no higher than 24 on 2 July 2026, the day the call was published; no extension of the age limit is allowed.
  • Household ISEEU, or an equivalent parified ISEE, no higher than €45,824.71 valid for enrolment in 2026-27, calculated before applying and authorised for automatic retrieval in Infostud.
  • First enrolment in a two-year master’s programme at Sapienza in 2026-27; no nationality or residency condition applies, and foreign students holding an Italian school diploma attach a parified ISEE.
