Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington gives new international postgraduate students a NZ$10,000 credit against tuition fees for one year of study. It is never paid out in cash.
Holders study full-time on campus in Wellington, New Zealand, in a Master’s degree of 120, 180 or 240 points or a 120-point Postgraduate Diploma. There is no scholarship form: the programme application is assessed for the award, and the number of awards varies.
Benefits & funding
- NZ$10,000, credited towards tuition fees only and deducted upfront.
- One year of study, for the first enrolment in the programme.
- One award per student, even with offers for several programmes.
- Withdrawing after the award is made may mean repaying some or all of it, at the University’s discretion.
- Can be held with other scholarships where their rules allow.
Eligibility
- Open to every nationality except Australian and New Zealand citizens; Australian or New Zealand permanent residents and resident-visa holders, and anyone on a diplomatic visa entitled to domestic status, are also not eligible.
- Must pay full international fees and hold a conditional or unconditional Offer of Place for an eligible Master’s or Postgraduate Diploma, studying full-time on campus.
- New students only: those already studying at the University are excluded, except students completing its English for Academic Purposes programme or a Victoria bachelor’s degree.
- Not open to Study Abroad, Exchange or Twinning students, those granted credit transfer, or government-sponsored students.
