Visiting Fellowships for Scholars from the Global South

The Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Cambridge runs this visiting fellowship for scholars employed by eligible Global South institutions. Fellows spend a term in Cambridge pursuing research, joining the CRASSH community and developing a shared academic event.

The latest call focused on Enslavement: histories, legacies and afterlives and scheduled the Cambridge residency for January to March 2027. The scheme also continues scholarly engagement digitally after the residency.

Eligibility

Applicants must be employed on at least a 50% contract by a higher education institution or research institute in a country on the OECD list of Official Development Assistance recipients.
Applicants may work in any academic discipline.
Their PhD must have been awarded at least five years before the application date.
They must be able to provide a Head of Department letter confirming leave for the full fellowship period.
