The UZH Mobility Scholarship is a funding contribution paid by Global Student Experience, the mobility office of the University of Zurich, to students spending an exchange semester abroad. It is tied to a defined set of partner universities, which UZH publishes in a list linked from its funding page.
The money covers part of the additional costs of the stay abroad. It is not a full cost package, and it sits beside the separate SEMP scholarship that UZH pays for exchanges within Europe.
The funding page describes no separate application form. Global Student Experience allocates a limited number of scholarships among exchange places at listed partner universities, and the first installment is released once the student uploads the signed Grant Agreement.
Benefits & funding
- CHF 1,000 per semester at each of the seven partner universities on the official scholarship list.
- The first installment is released after the signed Grant Agreement is uploaded.
- Exchanges within Europe are funded separately by the SEMP scholarship: CHF 1,330 per trimester (a stay of 2–3 months) and CHF 1,900 per semester (a stay of over 3 months); selected stays outside Europe receive CHF 1,750 and CHF 2,500 respectively.
- A grant of CHF 100 for eco-friendly travel is paid on proof of train or bus travel.
- Students with disabilities can request an additional grant by contacting Global Student Experience at least four months before the exchange.
Eligibility
- Matriculated at the University of Zurich at the time of applying and throughout the exchange semester or year.
- Holding an exchange place at a partner university that appears on the UZH list of partners carrying a mobility scholarship.
- For an exchange within Europe, students must be at least in their second year of study.
- Sufficient command of the language of instruction at the host university; the seven scholarship destinations are in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Croatia, Poland and Spain.
- The study plan must yield the equivalent of at least 15 ECTS creditable towards the UZH degree.
- Under UZH's university-wide agreements, at most two exchange stays are possible, and they must fall on two different study levels (Bachelor’s, Master’s, doctorate).
- No nationality or residency condition is stated; the gate is enrollment at UZH.
