The University of Verona (Università degli Studi di Verona), a public university in northern Italy, runs an annual support scheme for international students starting a two-year master’s degree. For academic year 2026/2027 it offered 15 scholarships — each pairing a cash award toward living costs with a full student-fee exemption — plus 48 reduced-fee flat-rate grants. It is aimed at students who earned their qualifying degree abroad, are not Italian citizens, and do not already live in Italy, lowering the cost of relocating to Verona to study.

Benefits & funding

  • 15 full scholarships: a living-expenses award (widely reported at €8,000 gross) plus exemption from student tuition fees; awardees then pay only the regional tax and stamp duty.
  • 48 reduced-fee grants: a flat-rate student contribution (widely reported at €1,000) in place of the standard fees.
  • Scholarship holders are also considered for a place at the ESU regional student residence, within the spaces reserved for international students.
  • The support is intended to cover part of the recipient’s living expenses for each year of study, not the full cost.

Eligibility

  • Hold a degree obtained abroad that qualifies for admission to a University of Verona international master’s programme.
  • Non-Italian citizenship — applicants who also hold Italian citizenship (dual citizens) are excluded.
  • Not currently resident in Italy.
  • Enrolling in one of the university’s international (English-taught) master’s programmes; eligible fields span areas such as artificial intelligence, computer engineering, data science, economics, mathematics, languages, biotechnology and viticulture & enology.
