The University of Twente Scholarship is an annual merit award for exceptional students admitted to an eligible MSc programme beginning in September 2027. Recipients study in person at the University of Twente in Enschede, the Netherlands; ITC and pre-Master programmes are excluded.
The grant offsets study-related costs but does not pay tuition or other bills on the student’s behalf, so recipients must cover any remaining costs. A one-year award may continue at the same amount for a second programme year if the required academic progress is met.
Benefits & funding
- €3,000–€22,000 for the first year, with the recipient deciding how to use the money for study-related costs.
- Students on a two-year programme may receive the same amount for year two after earning an average grade of 7 out of 10 and at least 50% of the year’s European Credits by the end of the third quartile.
- This is not a full scholarship; tuition, living expenses, and other uncovered costs remain the student’s responsibility.
Eligibility
- Be a non-EU/EEA applicant who is neither Dutch nor a current or former University of Twente student.
- Hold provisional admission and a student number for a qualifying University of Twente Master’s programme starting in September 2027; ITC and pre-Master programmes are ineligible.
- Rank within the top 5–10% of the graduation class at the home university.
- Meet the visa conditions where applicable and the English requirement of Academic IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 90, including IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 20 for speaking.
- Be ineligible for a Dutch study loan and for the statutory tuition fee; some non-EU/EEA residence-permit holders may therefore be excluded.
