UICC Technical Fellowships are short international learning visits for professionals working across cancer control. The Union for International Cancer Control runs the programme to help fellows acquire practical knowledge, skills and techniques from a host supervisor.
Visits last from two weeks to two months and are intended to strengthen both the fellow and their home organisation after the fellow returns. The 2026 call is closed, and UICC has not yet announced the 2027 call dates.
Benefits & funding
- UICC calculates each award from the fellowship duration, published living-cost scales and estimated economy travel between the home and host countries.
- The visit provides supervised, in-person learning at an international host institution for two weeks to two months.
- A visit may be extended by up to two additional months, but UICC provides no extra funding for the extension.
Eligibility
- Eligible applicants include cancer-control public health professionals, translational, clinical or implementation researchers, clinicians, nurses and pathologists.
- The standard academic requirement is a Master’s degree. UICC also accepts qualified doctors who hold, or are within one year of holding, cancer-specialty board certification; registered nurses with an RN qualification; and a one-year post-university specialty qualification related to cancer.
- Applicants need at least five years of work in cancer control before applying.
- Medical students and PhD students are not eligible.
- The call is worldwide. Applications involving a UICC member organisation as the home or host institution receive priority, but membership is not stated as a requirement.
