The UCL Global Master’s Scholarship supports international students from lower-income backgrounds who will attend UCL in London for a full-time taught Master’s degree. University College London administers the award through its Student Funding Office.

The 2026/27 round offered up to 85 scholarships across all postgraduate taught programmes. Selection is based on financial need.

Benefits & funding

  • The award is worth £15,000.
  • It is normally tenable for one year; for a two-year full-time programme, half is paid in each year.
  • UCL first applies the award to tuition fees, then pays any remainder in three equal instalments during the academic year for maintenance.
  • Up to 85 awards were available for 2026/27, including five ring-fenced for students from India and one for a student from Japan.
  • The scholarship may be combined with other funding, subject to the total value received, and recipients must report other awards to the Student Funding Office.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be eligible for UCL’s Overseas fee rate and come from a lower-income background.
  • They must have submitted a complete admission application, including references, for a full-time taught Master’s programme at UCL for 2026/27.
  • All postgraduate taught programmes are eligible, but distance-learning routes are excluded; recipients must travel to the UK and attend in person.
  • Citizenship itself is not the scholarship criterion. UCL states that candidates may come from any country outside the UK, while also noting current UK Study Visa restrictions affecting citizens of Cameroon, Sudan, Myanmar and Afghanistan from 26 March 2026.
