Official Page

The Avancez Scholarships support prospective fee-paying master’s students at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg. Awards are made as tuition-fee reductions for study at Chalmers and are allocated across the university’s education areas.

Selection is based on applicants’ relative merit, while Chalmers also seeks distribution across educational backgrounds. The scholarship is normally held for the two-year master’s programme, subject to academic-progress conditions.

Benefits & funding

  • The standard award reduces tuition fees by 75% for up to 120 credits of the named master’s programme.
  • A particularly strong recipient who completes 60 first-year credits with a high weighted average may receive an effective 85% reduction for the second year; the additional reduction is applied to the fourth-semester invoice.
  • Recipients must pass at least 30 credits in the first three study periods to retain the award for the next academic year.

Eligibility

  • Be a prospective first-year master’s student, not a student already enrolled at Chalmers.
  • Be liable to pay tuition fees for Swedish higher education; citizens outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland are normally fee-paying, though Swedish-residence and exchange-status exemptions apply.
  • Meet the entry requirements for the chosen Chalmers master’s programme and complete the programme application, required documents and application-fee payment.
  • Hold a qualification equivalent to a bachelor’s degree for entry to master’s study.
