The Tech for Good Project Fellow is a fixed-term, fully remote role at Tech Matters, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that builds technology platforms for the nonprofit and social-good sector. The Fellow works directly with founder and CEO Jim Fruchterman on initiatives that include expanding the “Better Deal for Data” data-governance standard, prototyping ways to improve large-language-model and search-engine responses on child safety, and developing an open online course based on Jim Fruchterman’s book.

Day-to-day work centres on project management, drafting and editing project documents, conducting research, analysing data, and producing reports. The role is open to candidates worldwide and runs for an approximate duration of six to twelve months.

Benefits & funding

  • Salary of US$70,000–80,000 for U.S.-based employees; compensation is adjusted for local circumstances for those hired outside the United States.
  • U.S. employees receive health and related insurance coverage.
  • Direct mentorship and close working relationship with Tech Matters’ founder and CEO, Jim Fruchterman.
  • Fully remote working arrangement with flexible working hours.
  • Fixed term of approximately 6 to 12 months.

Eligibility

  • Open to candidates worldwide; remote work capability required.
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field such as computer science, data science, MLIS, MBA, or the social sciences.
  • Five or more years’ experience in tech-enabled organisations.
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in the field of technology for social good, and familiarity with SaaS platforms.
  • Clear, kind writing ability and alignment with Tech Matters’ values of Impact, Empathy, and Collaboration.
  • Preferred but not required: experience writing Wikipedia articles, knowledge of data governance and stewardship, and multilingual ability.
