The Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program sends Thai secondary school teachers to a U.S. university for six weeks of professional learning. Fulbright Thailand, formally the Thailand-United States Educational Foundation, runs the Thai competition. The wider program is a U.S. Department of State program funded by the U.S. government and administered by IREX.
Participants join academic seminars on teaching methods, student-centred learning, content-based instruction, lesson planning, instructional technology and the U.S. education system. They also complete at least 40 hours of field experience with a U.S. partner teacher of the same or a similar subject in a local secondary school, observing lessons and co-teaching.
Thailand awards up to four grants a year. The program exists so that teachers carry the methods back into their own classrooms and build lasting links between Thai and U.S. schools.

Eligibility
- Thai citizenship, up to 50 years of age.
- A bachelor’s degree from a Thai university.
- Full-time teacher at secondary level in an eligible subject: English, English as a foreign language, other foreign languages, mathematics, science, social studies, or special education.
- At least three years of classroom experience; five or more years is preferred.
- Approved leave of absence from the school administration for the grant period.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preference goes to applicants who have not taken part in another Fulbright program and have had no significant professional experience abroad in the last five years.

Application process
- 1Prepare the file: a CV covering everything since the bachelor’s degree, a valid passport or Thai national ID, official diplomas and transcripts, an English lesson plan of at most five pages, the school director’s leave approval form, and two Institutional Support and Reference forms.

- 3Attend the selection interview in April.
- 4Shortlisted candidates sit the TOEFL test in May.
- 5Join the pre-departure orientation in June; the host university placement is confirmed in July and the final result follows in August.
