The Taiwan International Internship Program (TIIP) is a pre-doctoral research training program run by Academia Sinica, Taiwan’s leading national research institution, in Taipei. Overseas students spend two months working hands-on in a research group across Academia Sinica’s three divisions — Life Sciences, Mathematics & Physical Sciences, and Humanities & Social Sciences. It is designed to give interns real laboratory or field research experience, mentorship from Academia Sinica researchers, and exposure to an international network of scholars before they pursue graduate study or a research career.

  • Monthly stipend of NT$30,000 (before tax)
  • Round-trip airfare subsidy: half of the cheapest economy-class route from the intern’s hometown to Taipei, capped at NT$15,000

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate students in their third or final year
  • Master’s students, and holders of a B.S. or Master’s degree
  • Open to overseas applicants worldwide; no nationality restriction stated
  • Not eligible: PhD students, previous TIIP participants, and current Academia Sinica employees or research assistants
  • No age, GPA, or formal language requirement is published

    Prepare application materials and apply online through the TIIP application portal during the application window (15 December – 15 January).

    Await the phase-one and final selection results announced by Academia Sinica.

    If selected, confirm your cohort (May–June, June–July, or July–August) and arrange travel and campus housing.
