The Taiwan EUR PhD scholarship is jointly funded by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education and Erasmus University Rotterdam. It supports Taiwanese citizens taking up new PhD positions across Erasmus University schools in Rotterdam. Applicants first seek admission and a school recommendation, then enter the Ministry’s scholarship selection.

The 2025–26 cycle is closed. The Ministry’s most recent call allowed any PhD field and offered up to five awards for Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Benefits & funding

  • Tuition and research costs are covered at the university’s applicable international-student rate.
  • The living allowance is €2,000 per month, or €24,000 per year, tax-free but inclusive of social-insurance costs.

  • Applicants must not already hold a PhD and must meet the relevant Erasmus University school’s admission requirements for a new PhD position.
  • Applicants must be graduates or expected graduates of a recognized higher-education institution and must have applied to the relevant Erasmus PhD position by the Ministry deadline.
