Study in Canada Scholarships

Benefits & funding

• CAD 10,200 for four months or one academic term of study or research at the college or undergraduate level.
• CAD 10,200 for four months or one academic term of study or research at the graduate level (Master’s and PhD).
• CAD 14,000 for five to six months of study or research at the graduate level (Master’s and PhD).
• The scholarship covers airfare, select living expenses, health insurance, and visa or study/work permit fees.
• The Canadian host institution must waive its tuition fees for the recipient.
• A separate CAD 500 per implemented scholarship goes to the Canadian institution for administrative costs, including any employer compliance fee paid to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

Eligibility

• Candidates must be citizens of one of the eligible countries and territories: Bangladesh, Nepal, Taiwan, Türkiye, Ukraine, Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania and Uganda.
• Candidates must be enrolled full time at a post-secondary institution in one of those countries or territories, and paying tuition fees to it both at the time of application and throughout the exchange in Canada.
• The home institution needs an existing exchange agreement with a Canadian partner, because that Canadian institution submits the nomination.
• All project activities must be completed no later than 30 September 2027.
• Candidates who hold or have a pending application for Canadian citizenship or permanent residency are excluded.
• Candidates already holding funding from Global Affairs Canada, the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, or a Canadian federal granting agency such as NSERC, SSHRC or CIHR are excluded; all other funding sources must be declared.
• Candidates already enrolled in a degree, diploma or certificate program at a Canadian post-secondary institution are excluded.
• The applying Canadian institution must be a Designated Learning Institution and must waive tuition fees for recipients.

Application process

   Ask your home institution whether it has an exchange agreement with a Canadian post-secondary institution, and register your interest with the office that manages it.

   Your home institution passes your interest to its Canadian partner, which decides whom to nominate.

   The Canadian institution assigns a program coordinator, creates a Global Affairs Canada Single Sign-On account and registers the institution on My EduCanada.

   In the portal the coordinator selects Study in Canada Scholarships, opens the application form and submits one nomination per candidate.

   The coordinator uploads the Privacy Notice Statement for non-Canadian participants, signed by the candidate and dated within the previous six months.

   The institution emails its completed Management and Accountability Framework to Scholarships-Info-Bourses@international.gc.ca before the deadline.

   Global Affairs Canada notifies the Canadian institutions of results, which then inform their nominated students.
