The SFPE Foundation, affiliated with the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), funds undergraduate and graduate students to travel to SFPE or Foundation-affiliated conferences and events, wherever they are held.

The current round covers events in the first half of 2027. A second round each year serves the SFPE Annual Conference & Expo, typically held in October.

Benefits & funding

  • Up to US$3,000 toward economy travel, lodging, meals and car mileage; the amount is at the Foundation’s discretion and full funding is not guaranteed.
  • Not covered: business or first-class travel, rental cars, short-term visa costs, alcohol.
  • Recipients keep expense records and may have to return unspent funds; they agree to be named publicly with a photo.

  • Attending an SFPE or SFPE Foundation-affiliated event (others approved case by case) and registered for it.
