Official Page

Restoration Stewards is a year-long fellowship run by the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) and its Youth in Landscapes Initiative, launched in 2020. Each year it selects a small cohort of young people — typically five, one per ecosystem such as forests, mountains, oceans, wetlands and drylands — who already lead or help run a youth-led restoration project. The 2027 edition backs each Steward with a grant, expert mentorship, capacity-building training and visibility across GLF’s global platforms, so they can deepen the impact of work they are already doing on the ground.

Benefits & funding

  • €5,000 in trust-based grant funding to advance your existing restoration project.
  • One-on-one mentorship from scientific and technical experts.
  • Training and capacity-development throughout the year.
  • Access to a global peer community of restoration practitioners.
  • Visibility and storytelling across GLF’s events, channels and audiences.

Eligibility

  • Aged 18–35 at the time of applying.
  • Leading or contributing to a youth-led restoration project that addresses both social and ecological dimensions.
  • The project works in ecosystems such as forests, mountains, oceans, wetlands, peatlands, drylands, rangelands or other landscapes, and has been active for at least six months.
  • Open to applicants of any nationality. Priority goes to projects led by young people from Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America or the Caribbean, and to women-led, Indigenous-led and locally-led projects.
